José Galván was born in Sevilla. He began his professional career in 1962. Throughout his career, he has performed professionally in such cities as Madrid, Barcelona, his native Sevilla, and major capitals in Europe, Japan, and North America.

Maestro Galván has performed with such great "bailadores" (dancers) as Juana Amaya, Israel Galván, Hiniesta Cortéz, La Chabuca, La Tani of Barcelona, Milagros Cordobés, Carmen Vargas, Juan Paredes, Lalo Tejada, Domingo Ortega, La Chota of Córdoba, and many other outstanding performers of the Spanish artistic dance world.

In 1976, he opened his own studio as a professor of dance. At that point, Maestro Galván's professional career began a clearly defined ascension into the highest ranks of his profession. This rise culminated into his being awarded first place honors as dancer of the year in 1985 by National Spanish Television.

From his mastery have come many dancers of world class category, such as gypsy dancer Juana Amaya, Israel Galván, Lalo Tejada, Jesús Cordobés, Carmen Vargas, Juan Paredes, and many others who can be seen performing throughout the world.
